Shambhulal Regar makes hate videos from Jodhpur Central Jail

Jodhpur: Shambhulal Regar, who is currently the prisoner in Jodhpur Central Jail for brutally stabbing Malda labourer Afrazul Khan to death, is alleged to create provocative videos from inside the jail.

The latest video features Regar who is seen speaking for several minutes echoing anti-Islamic statements. Regar starts by saying that this is his 'last' message which he is writing from the Jodhpur central jail. "The jail administration has kept me in one of the most protected cells but still a person called Vasudev Brahman met me. Brahman is from West Bengal and is also a prisoner here. Slowly, he tried to befriend me and would criticise Islam and expressed his solidarity with me which made me suspicious," says Regar in the video.

The videos, which surfaced late on Sunday night, are reportedly recorded and circulated on the social media platforms.

In what is considered as a perfect example of 'hate crime', Regar, 36, is alleged to have brutally killed and burned the body of Khan on December 6 last year and filmed the act with the help of his minor nephew. In the video, Shambhulal was seen ranting against 'love jihad', a term often used by people of right wing communities accusing Muslim men marrying Hindu women and converting them into Islam.

Regar had informed the police that the phone that he used to create the video was not his phone. However, he has also not revealed whose was it either.

The extremely disturbing video too was widely circulated before the police arrested him.
